Mugen takes the appearance of an 13 year old girl dressed in a gothic outfit, which includes an all black dress, black and white stripped tights a small black top hat and a pair of black sweatbands. The girl has white hair which seems lifeless. Her eyes also share this trait and even though the girl might smile of frown her eye eyes always appear dead.
Likes: Teasing Shizuo, dancing, punishing foes
Habits: Ignoring questions, dancing by herself.
Personality: Mugen appears to be an innocent little girl on the surface, who just enjoys teasing
Hayate and just playing with him. However, deep underneath that act Mugen is an aggressive being who only wishes to completely destroy anyone who threatens Shizuo. She has no mercy for any opponents and loves victory. In this very way she hates defeat and will often force Shizuo into their inner world and take it out on him in a very childish manner.
Inner World: Shizuo’s inner world is a large grand old fashioned, ballroom. It has a gramophone which plays out slow melancholic music; however when Shizuo is in deep turmoil or pain, the music will come to an end. The ballroom is made up of mostly a large dance floor, but it also has a stage at the very back, upon the stage is the released form of Mugen upon a stand and a giant golden throne, with a back that reaches all the way the ceiling, making it seem like a pillar. This is where Mugen sits herself.
Connection to Master: Mugen is extremely protective and possessive of Shizuo, holding a constant desire to protect him from any danger, and being merciless to anyone who threatens him. Shizuo dislikes this violent nature of his Zanpakutou

Looks: In Mugen’s sealed form, it appears to be a normal Katana with a crimson Red hilt which has three circular holes in it. The Katana guard is a simple circular guard, which is takes the appearance of a buzz saw blade, with its sharp jagged edges

Release Phrase: Rip through, Mugen
Looks: Mugen transforms into a large triple bladed scythe. The scythes handle is crimson red, and each blade gets slightly smaller the further away it gets from the top. The scythe is connected to a Katana sheath by a long red chain, which is connected to the inside of the sheath. The chain is actually 20 meters long in the sheath allowing him to use the scythe as a long ranged weapon.
Family: Kido (However without using its abilities it would appear to be a melee type Zanpakutou, due to its overwhelming properties)
Special Ability: To phase through matter by inhabiting another dimension created by Mugen, which removes itself from the current space, but allows itself to affect it. This dimension is created inertly out of Shizuo and Mugen Reiatsu, meaning only the Zanpakutou can in habit it, although it can safely transport people there for a short period of time.
Techs:
Kaishi No Seinou, Kikyaku Mono (
Beginning Performance, reject.) – This ability invokes a “form” of Mugen for a short period of time. In this form the three blades gain a crimson strip down the middle of the blade. For a period of time the Zanpakutou can pass through any non living thing, including Zanpakutou and even all forms of clothes. This gives Shizuo not only a surprise advantage but a much higher chance of striking his opponent. If Shizuo lands an attack the body will be cut, but the clothes of the person are left unscratched. However it’s a double edged sword as this also means it can’t block any incoming attacks from any weapon, it can only block if it’s a direct attack such as a punch or kick.

Next performance, Place of Refuge) – This ability is performed when Shizuo quickly spins Mugen upside down so that the blades of facing the floor. From there he calls the name and a kido like box from the very tip of the scythe until it is completely formed and around Shizuo. The area is then phased out of that space for a short time. Anything that attacks the box hits one side and then comes out of the opposite side of the box, leaving the inside unharmed. This box can be expanded to fit around 3 people including Shizuo. Shizuo cannot attack while in Hinanjo, as the box separates him from that actual dimension for a short time.

Release Phrase: Ban Kai Mugen No Uchuu
Looks: The large three bladed scythe actually decreases in size, transforming into a altered long Katana, the whole blade is Pure white along with the hilt and most of the guard. It’s about 125cm (49.2in) long, and has a long cross guard which is four bars, making a "+" shape and then a circular ring around the four of them, connecting there tips The sword has an long, but normal shaped blade right until the very end, where instead of finishing at a tip, the blade morphs into two and creates a u shaped end to the blade, on the u shaped tip, both its inside and out side are sharp, so it can be used to slash and stab.. At the other end of the hilt, it bulges out slightly and then comes to a sharp pointed end. Like an extremely sharp flower which has its petals closed, before blooming. The Bankai continues up Shizuo’s left arm, as he gains a metal plated gauntlet on his hand which travels up the whole arm, onto the neck and chest, and finishes when it covers the front half of the neck and the left half of Shizuo’s upper chest. This Armour goes over his shinigami uniform. The fingers of the amour have short claws which can be used as a weapon. Shizuo is ambidextrous, but is stronger with his left than his right meaning half the time the armored hand is holding the sword. The Armour also travels around the shoulder onto Shizuo's back, it continues as a strip along Shizuo's back until it reaches the other shoulder. Coming out of this strip is a long white cape, which has a black "boarder line" just before the edge of the cape.

Hinanjo Hansha (
Reflection of refuge) – This technique is the almost the same its previous Shikai form. However it is now able to change the direction of the attack. E.g. if a cero was directed at him at the panel in front of him, Hinanjo Hansha could change its course, so that instead of exiting through the back panel it takes a 90 degree turn and exits through the left panel.

Seinou Furasshu (
Performance Flash) – The pointed end of the staff opens up into four triangles, revealing a red orb in the centre of them. The red orb seems to have a form of black smoke moving around in it. Shizuo calls this the “direct gateway” to the other dimension that Mugen’s abilities revolve around. This orb can take some of the Reiatsu the dimension is created from and blast it out, causing damage. The technique is similar to a cero.

full rotation performance) – The tips of the u shaped end begin to glow crimson red and Shizuo quickly spins around. Once Shizuo has made a full rotation the u shaped end has become fully engulfed in the red glow. From there Shizuo swings the sword at the target and the red light is launched off the blade, it keeps its shape but increases slightly with size, this attack allows Mugen to effectively do something which she couldn’t before, and that is move a part of the dimension without being an anchor. When this attack makes contact with anything, it dissolves and then the object gains a large x shaped slash upon it. Unfortunately since Mugen isn’t acting as an anchor the dimension that’s move cannot control itself on its own, which means the further away it gets the weaker it becomes, as the x shaped slash becomes smaller.

Finally, reject)- Shizuo often jokes about how this attack is kind of out of his hands and that his Zanpakutou does all the work, with little needed from himself. This form has the same basic properties and drawbacks of its Shikai form, although this time it includes the armored arm that Shizuo gains in his bankai. The blade and gauntlet are now moving inside its other dimension, which is unseen in this one. This now means that if Shizuo makes a cut upon his opponent, he/she will actually have four cuts resembling a cross, with one of the cuts being the actual place the sword/claw seemed to cut.
